Translating Presenter Text Labels and Buttons |

When translating Presenter courses, there's a need for some clarification around the functionality around Button and Text labels (i.e Outline, Notes, Attachments, Mute, etc).
When on the Text Labels window in the Theme Editor (Adobe Presenter>Theme Editor>Text Labels) it appears one can instantly translate the labels by selecting a new language from the drop-down menu. This is not the case.
Testing showed that we could change labels manually although the language selection drop-down selection did not save to the presentation (when the Text Labels dialog box was re-opened, it had defaulted back to English). We also tested it on a machine which had the language fonts installed and another that didn’t: in both cases the translated labels did not hold and defaulted back to English when the dialog box was re-opened.
We also tried making changes to the translated labels. Interestingly, although the language selection wasn’t applied to the published presentation, the changes to the translated labels were saved. (For example, I added “changed” to a Japanese label; when re-selecting Japanese in the drop-down, the “changed” still appeared.)
SOLUTION / RECOMMENDATION:
The reason for this is that the language drop down is not “savable”. When the “Text Labels” window is instantiated it reads the language that Windows is set to and assigns that to the dropdown.
In other words; if you were to run Presenter on a machine that’s running Windows in Spanish and you were to bring up the “Text Labels” window, you would find that the “Language” dropdown is automatically set to “Spanish”.
So, when working with your translation/ localization vendor, make sure to have them change the labels for the language which Windows is running on the machine you'll use to publish the course or which you'll use to make future updates
If you're not working with a translation/localization vendor, your only option for translating the labels would be to manually cut and paste each translated label from the ones shown for the desired language into the labels for the language your machine runs.
