ADL SCORM Compliancy Tool: Getting Started
Downloading/ Installing the Tool:
The ADL SCORM Compliancy suite can be downloaded from here:
http://www.adlnet.gov/scorm/history/Scorm12/Scts.aspx
You’ll want to download the latest version of the suite, version 1.2.7.
The downloadable package contains install instructions.
Using the ADL Tool:
Once installed on your system, launch the tool from your desktop.
On the main page, you’ll want to select the “Content Package Conformance Test” option. The Content Package asks for information in six steps before will launch your course.
Here’s pointers to get you started:
Step 1: Select “Package (Non PIF)”
Step 2: Select “Content Aggregation Package”
Step 3: Select the “imsmanifest.xml” file for the course you wish to test. This step will test your course manifest and if it passes, continue the process of launching the course
Steps 4 and 5: You can simply use the default values
Step 6: Launch the course (SCO) when ready.
When the source launches in its new window, you can go through the course and test functionality.
The Suite tool window will remain open and you’ll notice in the right frame the test log will be generated. The test log contains all SCORM commands that will be sent to a LMS and all values the LMS would return.
Upon completing the course testing (for example: going to every page, answering quiz questions, and any performing any other functionality tests), close the course window. Then in the tool’s left frame, click the “Complete Test” button. The right frame will display a summary which reports if the course is SCORM-complaint.
Save the log by scrolling back to the top of the right frame and clicking “Save Log”.
